As mentioned above, over 75% of websites use PHP in one way or another. It was estimated in late 2020 that there were over 1.7 billion websites. Obviously this figure changes daily as sites close down and new ones open. So as far as PHP is converned, over 1.275 billion websites use PHP.

With such a massive following it would be silly to steer you in another direction.

PHP is currently on version 8.0 and this was released in November 2020. Version 7.4 is the latest most stable release that is in general use.
